Gerald “Jerry” Wood is the man whose identity was used by former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters and 1990s surfer and computer hacker Conan Hayes to enable Hayes to access the secure tabulation room at Mesa County Elections during the “Trusted Build” software upgrade in May 2021 and image the server hard drive. This is a central piece to the story around Tina Peters. This interview excerpt from my exclusive June 25, 2022 interview with Jerry and Wendi Wood walks through how Jerry says he met Peters and went through the process of getting a badge. It involves phone calls and in-person meetings with no mention of text messages during this process. Peters was indicted in March 2022, and by the time of this interview, Wood was no longer considered a target in the investigation.
